Brayan Apaza Junpiri promised his mother that he would go to an Internet café and that they would meet later to return home together. He never arrived at their agreed meeting point.
As he was walking to meet his mother, a bullet struck him in the head ending his life. Brayan was just 15 years old. His sister, Rocío, looked for him at the scene but did not find him because he had already been transferred to the hospital in Juliaca, the main commercial city of Puno, in southern Peru. What Rocío did find were bullets on the ground. After three days in a coma, Brayan succumbed to his injuries.
“My brother went to meet my mother. He was 15 years old. They killed him. They shot him in the head without mercy. The policemen shot him. I just want justice for my little brother. That is all.” says Rocío.
