Income-qualified households may receive a reimbursement for the full cost of a seismic upgrade to their home, while others may qualify for up to $3,000 to make their foundation more earthquake-resistant.
To qualify for a lottery and get these rebates, Berkeley homeowners can enroll in the state's rebate program. Earthquake Brace + Bolt before November 29.
Households with annual incomes below $72,080 may qualify for up to 100 percent of the cost of seismic retrofitting.
