The face of higher education in the U.S. is changing as college students increasingly come from immigrant families, which could alter the future landscape of the workforce and higher education by 2035.
According to a study by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), of the 19 million students in American colleges and universities in 2018, 28 percent (5.8 million) were first-generation immigrants or children of immigrants.
The report highlights that enrollment of students with immigrant backgrounds has changed dramatically in recent years.
