San Mateo County Sheriff Carlos G. Bolaños said that the Sheriff's Office's alliance with the organization Casa Circulo Cultural enriches community services, as well as helping the most vulnerable sectors of the county through workshops, tutoring and courses that empower residents.

“Casa Circulo Cultural, under the leadership of Veronica Escamez, has a proven track record of providing critical services to the community and I saw our collaboration as an opportunity to help build on their work. Both Veronica and I recognize that services are more critical now with the pandemic than ever before,” the sheriff said.

In that regard, he said that the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) is excited about expanding its ongoing collaboration with the nonprofit organization with more than 11 years of service, Casa Circulo Cultural.

The Sheriff’s Office added that through its Community Partnership to Revitalize Our Neighborhood (CARON) program, it has long recognized the power of leveraging the resources of each agency to better serve the adult residents of the North Fair Oaks community.

Sheriff Carlos Bolanos said the expansion of his association to include youth in North Fair Oaks was “natural.”

“By partnering with Casa Circulo Cultural, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office can continue to provide the highest quality law enforcement services while working to reduce crime, build relationships, and increase the safety and quality of life for our residents,” he added.

He also explained that the synergy allows each agency to provide enhanced programming through non-profit community groups.

Counseling, martial arts, cooking, tutoring, and the “Empowering Young Women” program are just some of the services currently offered by SAL and Casa Circulo Cultural.

“With both groups centrally located in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood, resources and services are more easily accessible to everyone. As our partnership grows, we look forward to providing even more opportunities to enrich the lives of our youth and families within San Mateo County,” the sheriff concluded.
