Get your tiki glasses, best hip moves and get your family and friends ready to enjoy the Bay Area Aloha Festival this Saturday, August 12 at the San Mateo County Events Center.

Every year, thousands of islanders and islanders at heart come together to celebrate culture through music, dance, arts and crafts, authentic food, and educational workshops. Due to covid restrictions and protocols, we will be having a one-day Aloha Concert in the Bay Area.

The free event, hosted by the Pacific Islander Cultural Association, will take place on August 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the San Mateo County Events Center (SMCEC), located at 1346 Saratoga Drive in San Mateo.

The Aloha Festival will be held entirely outdoors. The entertainment stage is in front of the Central Mall Lawn area, food vendors will be in the west parking lot, and community booths and craft vendors will be in and around the Central Mall Lawn area.

The east parking lot at 1346 Saratoga Drive is the parking lot that all attendees must use and costs $18 per vehicle. Walk to the entrance at Gate 8.

Of note, the west parking lot is strictly for food vendor stands.

The event will feature workshops, for which registration is not required. All are generally free unless they have a material or supply component.

Some of the workshops are music-oriented, so bring your own ukulele, sing and play! A workshop schedule will be available at the web site and you can also consult at the Information Desk.

Alcohol is not welcome at the Aloha Festival, which is known for its relaxed atmosphere that welcomes family and friends of multiple generations, from keiki (young children) to kupuna (elders) and everyone in between.

Alcohol is not served or permitted on the premises. In addition, illegal drugs, glass containers and weapons are prohibited on the premises. Security guards will inspect coolers, backpacks and purses. All prohibited items must be returned to your vehicle or disposed of.

It is expected that there will be food stalls at the event, however, the organisers are aware that sometimes budgets are limited or some people may have specific dietary requirements, so they have maintained their policy of allowing outside food and drink.

Don't wait any longer, get everything ready and enjoy music, dancing, food, workshops, and information about Pacific island culture.
