The National Football League The NFL announced that Super Bowl LX will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2026, with the long-awaited game to be held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara County.
The announcement was made this week at the NFL's Spring League Meeting in Minneapolis, following a review of the proposal by the Major Events and Fan Engagement Advisory Committee and a vote by all owners.
“The Bay Area was an incredible host for Super Bowl 50 and we are thrilled to bring the Super Bowl back,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We look forward to working with the 49ers and the Bay Area Host Committee to create an impactful Super Bowl LX in 2026 that showcases all the great things the region has to offer.”
Super Bowl LX comes exactly 10 years after Levi's Stadium hosted Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and will be the second played at the stadium since it opened in 2014.

“We are honored to once again host the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium and serve as stewards of one of the largest sporting events in the world,” said Al Guido, President of the San Francisco 49ers. “Since hosting Super Bowl 50 in 2016, Levi’s Stadium has solidified its reputation as a world-class venue. I am confident that Super Bowl LX will be a great event that will benefit the entire community.”
As part of Super Bowl LX activities, the Bay Area will host a number of highly-anticipated events that make up Super Bowl Week, including NFL Awards, the Super Bowl Experience, Super Bowl Opening Night and a robust community program.
Events are expected to take place throughout the Bay Area, with a variety of opportunities for visitors and residents to have memorable pre-game experiences.
“The Bay Area is an exciting region for sports and is the perfect host for Super Bowl LX,” said Zaileen Janmohamed, president and CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee.
“2026 will be a blockbuster year for the Bay Area on the world stage, hosting both the Super Bowl and World Cup, and the timing is right as San Francisco celebrates its 250th anniversary. We are thrilled to bring another large-scale event to the area and showcase the Bay Area’s unique spirit and diversity,” he added.
For his part, California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his excitement about the Super Bowl returning to California once again.
“California is proud to host the Super Bowl when it returns to Levi’s Stadium in 2026. The Bay Area continues to be a destination for the world’s largest sporting events, and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase our state on one of the world’s largest stages.”
"Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to bring the game back to Levi's Stadium and, along with that, hundreds of millions of dollars for our state's economy, local businesses and workers," he added.
