Get ready for an upcoming 55-hour closure of northbound US 101 in Redwood City from October 13-16 as the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is in the process of replacing the Cordilleras Creek Bridge due to its end of life.
The goal of this project is to replace the existing triple-box culvert with a single-span bridge while maintaining connectivity and safety for the public traveling along this stretch of US 101.
To accomplish this work, Caltrans plans to close each side of US 101, southbound and northbound, for a 55-hour long weekend, a total of two weekend closures.
The closure will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday night and run until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
As a result of the closure, Redwood City expects impacts to local traffic, particularly on El Camino, Woodside and Middlefield Road.
Drivers are advised to be alert for site closure and detour signs.
Authorities have urged drivers to drive with caution on detours and to leave a safe distance between their vehicles and the one in front of them.
It is important to note that traffic management strategies will be implemented to keep traffic away from the area and detour travelers between the Holly Street and Whipple Avenue exits to Industrial Way in Redwood City.
