
¡Gardner Health Services' Day of the Dead Run-Walk isis back in 2021! And this time with a special meaning, as the event is dedicated to the millions of lives lost around the world due to COVID-19, almost 2 thousand people in San José.
The event will take place this Saturday, October 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and seeks to honor all the frontline workers who continue to heroically confront the pandemic and who have helped our communities safely over the past year and a half.
Additionally, the fundraising run-walk will safely bring together patients, staff, families and the community to celebrate life, health and all those who have passed away and will be loved forever.
Join the Día de los Muertos run-walk to raise funds to help children and families who cannot afford health insurance get free care.
The event will feature a 5K and 10K family run and walk route with the option to participate virtually, as well as a community health fair. Everyone from 0 to 99 years old is welcome to participate.
All state and county COVID-19 safety procedures will be followed on race day, any changes will be closely monitored and adjustments will be made as necessary to ensure the event is safe for all participants.

Registration includes entry to the race, timing chip and number, medal at the end of the course, commemorative t-shirt and a Day of the Dead mask.
Those who have already registered can pick up their packet on Friday, October 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1621 Gold St. Alviso, CA 95002, or on race day at 7:00 a.m. at the same address.
Organizers encourage participants to dress up in Day of the Dead themed makeup and costumes, or wear the race t-shirts provided upon packet pick-up.
Additionally, participants may bring a copy of a photo of a deceased loved one – 5” x 7” or smaller –, flowers, and other items – except candles or open flame votives – for the giant ofrenda on display. All items must be placed in the ofrenda by 7:30.
Due to COVID-19, items placed in the ofrenda will not be returned and will be disposed of.
Tribute to COVID survivors
As a form of tribute to the survivors of the pandemic, they will be allowed to position themselves at the front of the exit ramp.
