Santa Clara and San Mateo launch Christmas bowl recycling program

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, residents of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties can recycle their Christmas bowls through Recology and GreenWaste Recovery's collection service.

Santa Clara County residents, including Mountain View and Cupertino, will be able to recycle their bowls this January, where property managers can call to arrange bowl pickup from a central location.

It should be noted that people who want to recycle their bowls should remove all tinsel, lights, decorations and stands from their bowls, cut the bowl into smaller pieces and leave it next to their compost carts for collection on regular service days.

He also mentions that the bowls must be cut to five feet or less, while the cut pieces can also be placed in the compost carts once the lid can be closed for Recology to accept them.

Meanwhile, for residents of San Mateo County, whose service area includes cities from East Palo Alto to Burlingame, garbage collection takes place from January 1 to 31.

In this case, eight-foot bowls must be cut down before being placed next to a collection cart. Additionally, apartment or condo managers in the county can schedule bowl collection between Jan. 2 and Jan. 31 for the entire complex.
