The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> The CDC recently reported that the order requiring people to show a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of COVID-19 recovery before boarding a flight to the United States was rescinded as of Sunday, June 12, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that, starting that date, air passengers will not need to get tested and show a COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The COVID-19 pandemic has now shifted to a new phase, the CDC noted, due to widespread uptake of highly effective COVID-19 vaccines, the availability of therapeutics, and the accumulation of high rates of vaccine-induced immunity and population-level infections in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of these measures, he said, has contributed to reducing the risk of serious illness and death in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, this requirement that was needed earlier in the pandemic may be withdrawn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDC continues to recommend that travelers boarding a flight to the U.S. get proof of current infection with a viral test as close to departure time as possible (no more than 3 days) and not travel if sick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDC is continuing to evaluate the latest science and the status of the pandemic and will re-evaluate the need for a testing requirement if the situation changes. CDC will communicate any updates publicly as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
