Police officers arrested a young suspect in Redwood City after he was detained with a firearm that was allegedly fired on the night of August 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it was during the night of August 2 that around 8:43 p.m., officers responded to a call to the 700 block of Cedar Street due to a report that shots had been fired with a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When officers arrived, one subject attempted to flee the scene, but officers quickly caught him, authorities said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that time, 19-year-old Jesus Jahir Sosa Ortega of Redwood City was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n

Further investigation revealed that Sosa Ortega had fired the stolen firearm several times that night. So far there is no evidence that anyone was hit by those bullets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 5, Redwood City detectives served an arrest warrant and a search warrant at his residence in the 700 block of Cedar. Sosa Ortega was arrested on a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth noting that during the search of his residence, illegal high-explosive fireworks were revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sosa Ortega was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a warrant and unlawful possession of a destructive device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
