On Tuesday, November 8, the midterm elections were held in the United States, as well as the general elections in the State, for which experts pointed out that the electoral system of California is "fair and transparent."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the 2020 presidential election, distrust in the electoral system has been present, as Republican voters did not believe that the current president, Joe Biden, had won. In addition, in the specific case of California, Shirley Weber, California's secretary of state, noted that she has been sued at least 50 times over the 2020 election, however all of those cases have failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"As a result, they have been overturned by a judge, there is no reason to believe that future cases brought in California will be successful, we have done everything we can to make the elections safe," he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weber said at a press conference organized by Ethnic Media Services<\/a> in which experts met to discuss the country's midterm and general elections, that efforts to annul the 2020 elections have failed, as there is no evidence to support the claims of those requesting it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The California Secretary of State also pledged to make every vote count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"I am committed to ensuring that your vote counts, every vote that is placed in an envelope or deposited in a ballot box or at your local voting center. We are committed to ensuring that every vote in California counts," he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFederal officials and election security experts declared that election to be the most secure in history,\u201d Derek Tisler, an elections specialist at the Brennan Center, said of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tisler also said election officials are committed to accuracy and security and that "across the country, election officials are counting ballots, checking them, and checking them again until they are confident they have been counted and included in the total vote."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, Weber pointed out that electoral and polling station workers were trained so that they could secure the processes and have alternatives to address any problems that might arise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"If all else fails, we are prepared to call in law enforcement to ensure that election workers, polling stations and ballots are safe," he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tisler also noted that \u201cprocesses are generally conducted in public. Representatives of campaigns, political parties, media outlets, and the public can observe election workers as they count ballots to ensure that workers are following each step correctly, as outlined in the law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that election officials are committed to election security over speed of results, so \u201celection results are never final on election night,\u201d noting that this is why official results are released days or even weeks later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The goal should never be to produce a quick result, but to count every vote correctly," he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
