Agents arrest a man in San Mateo County on June 16 after he attacked a person, hitting them over the head with a pickaxe.<\/span><\/p>\n

And it is that, last Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:59 pm, agents of the Office of the San Mateo County Sheriff<\/a> They were dispatched to Holly Street at the Highway 101 overpass on a report of a victim who had been attacked and struck in the head with a pickaxe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who had non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by firefighters and paramedics on scene.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The suspect, known to the victim, was identified as Matthew Garcia, a passerby in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Garcia was reported to have fled the area on foot after the attack. Officers conducted an extensive search and located the attacker hiding in the 500 block of Skyway Road.<\/span><\/p>\n

When located, Garcia was found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, authorities said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Garcia was placed under arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substances, and booked into the San Mateo County Jail without incident.<\/span><\/p>\n

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call their offices at 1-800-547-2700.<\/span><\/p>\n
