Since 1939, Redwood City has been the place to be on the 4th of July. The parade starts promptly at 10 a.m. and you&#039;ll know it&#039;s started when you hear the cannon fire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This parade attracts thousands of spectators from all over the state and beyond, as well as tourists from all over the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The parade route, which includes hundreds of people and floats, runs through historic downtown Redwood City and covers 1.3 miles. 69 organizations have joined together to celebrate this incredible event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, the Peninsula Celebration Association welcomes Redwood City native Linda Cardellini as the 2023 Parade Grand Marshall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Linda has been nominated for an Emmy Award, a SAG Award, and a Spirit Award. She attended Saint Pius School where she discovered her love for acting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the parade, get ready for the festival, which will provide an opportunity for community service organizations to raise funds by selling food, merchandise or providing information about their organization. There are also craft booths and entertainment for the thousands of people who attend the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presented by California Artists, there is a wide variety of items, all handmade by talented artists that are available for purchase. Items include paintings, fine jewelry, pottery, clothing, floral arrangements, woodwork, sculpture, toys and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attendees will also be able to enjoy food and drinks at an area located in Middlefield.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support your favorite local nonprofit. Many of them in the area use this event as a great opportunity to raise funds. Much of their income for the year will come from this event, so don&#039;t hesitate to purchase something.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, there will also be a Chalk Festival, where artists of all levels will create their masterpieces on July 3 and 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the above, there is a children&#039;s area, information booths and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you like pancakes, join the Redwood City Fire Department at the main fire station on Marshall Street for a pancake breakfast. The breakfast runs from 8 to 11 a.m. and benefits the Redwood City Firefighters Association. The breakfast will cost $10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">End your Fourth of July celebration with fireworks over Redwood City Harbor.
