Melissa Stevenson Diaz announced Wednesday the appointment of Jeff Schwob as Redwood City's Director of Community Development, who will be responsible for current and advanced planning, building and municipal code compliance, development services, and historic and environmental review.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Community Development Department<\/a> works to guide the physical growth, development and preservation of the City under the political direction of the City Council in conjunction with other local departments.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cServing as Interim Community Development Director, Jeff has brought more than 30 years of invaluable experience from Bay Area cities to Redwood City,\u201d said City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz. \u201cI am thrilled that he will serve as our Director on a permanent basis; I know he will effectively lead and support our staff and connect well with a wide range of stakeholders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeff\u2019s career began in Alameda County, with experience in San Rafael, Santa Rosa, and Fremont, where he served as Community Development Director. Since 2018, he has continued his public service with interim assignments, including as Interim Community Development Director for Walnut Creek and most recently serving in the same position in Redwood City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his career, Jeff has earned widespread recognition for his ingenuity as a creative problem solver, his exceptional management skills, and his role as a mentor dedicated to fostering talent and continuous improvement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The city noted that Schwob has particular strengths in urban planning, architectural design and public engagement, as well as extensive experience in all aspects of community development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeff Schwob holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.<\/span><\/p>\n
