In a statement, the Santa Clara Police Department said it continues to receive reports from community members about telephone scammers posing as police officers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In some cases, he said, scammers will falsify the exact number of a public safety department to disguise their identity and attempt to extort people by claiming there is an active arrest warrant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, Santa Clara Police will never ask you for payment or money over the phone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, authorities requested that if you receive one of these phone calls, you hang up immediately and call the department directly at 408-615-4700.<\/span><\/p>\n
