The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis<\/a>, is getting off the train of the race heading for the presidency of the United States, after this Sunday he announced the end of his candidacy for the White House, endorsing former President Donald Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no clear path to victory. As a result, I am suspending my campaign today. I am proud to have fulfilled 100 of my promises and I will not stop now. It is clear to me that the majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,\u201d DeSantis said in a speech he broadcast on his social media.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the message lasting just over four and a half minutes, DeSantis said that while his wife had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic, \u201cTrump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Republican stressed that he signed a commitment to support the Republican candidate and he will fulfill it, because, he specified, there is no way to return to the old Republican guard of yesteryear, alluding to Donald Trump's now only rival in the primaries for the November elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

"We cannot go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear, nor to the repackaged form of overheated corporatism that Nikki Haley represents," he stressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, is currently Donald Trump's only rival in the Republican primary, and in recent remarks she questioned former President Trump's mental competence following comments he made in which he appeared to confuse her with Nancy Pelosi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you reach a certain age, there is a decline, that is a fact, ask any doctor,\u201d said the Republican contender.<\/span><\/p>\n

DeSantis did not hesitate to bring up the issue of border security and illegal immigration, recalling why he ran for president.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe launched this campaign to bring government accountability back to sovereignty at our border and to restore sanity to our society. We cannot succeed as a country if we allow our nation to be invaded, our currency to be debased, our cities to crumble, and our children to be indoctrinated,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, DeSantis thanked all of his supporters for their support during his short campaign, as well as his family.<\/span><\/p>\n
