With a rich background in program leadership, entrepreneurship, and economic and workforce development, Amanda Anthony has become the new director of Redwood City Economic Development<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The announcement was made by Redwood City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz, who noted that Anthony brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role, which he will begin on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to welcome Amanda to our Redwood City team,\u201d said Stevenson Diaz. \u201cHer diverse experiences have provided her with the insight and passion to propel Redwood City\u2019s economic vitality to new heights.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As Director of Economic Development, Anthony will play a key role in promoting Redwood City's economic vitality and resiliency, and will collaborate with local stakeholders to create and implement initiatives aimed at fostering business growth, supporting small businesses and promoting workforce development, the city said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am impressed by Redwood City\u2019s commitment to supporting businesses large and small,\u201d Anthony said. \u201cI look forward to pursuing a strategy of equity and partnership, focused on helping diverse business owners thrive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to joining Redwood City, Anthony was the Director of San Mateo County Programs at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, where she managed a $1.3 million budget and expanded services to new locations, fostering small businesses amidst tough economic times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Anthony lived in Poland where he worked for Hewlett Packard and Systems Solutions Center before starting and running his own company for five years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anthony holds a Master of Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago and is the author of several publications on entrepreneurship and regional development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She has also received numerous awards and honors, including recognition as one of the \u201c30 Kreatywnych Wroc\u0142awian\u201d (30 Creative Wroc\u0142awians) and is a graduate of the San Mateo County Chamber Leadership Program.<\/span><\/p>\n
