Seconds Save Lives in Earthquakes,\u201d which contains practical and necessary tips for communities to stay prepared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a tremor, earthquake or quake hits, you need to take action, and that means you need to take cover and get down. Spread the word to family, friends and organizations, said Amy Palmer, deputy director of Crisis Communications and Public Affairs for the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) during a briefing held by the California Department of Emergency Management (CEM).\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ethnicmediaservices.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ethnic Media Services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said that depending on where they are, they may have 20 or even 40 seconds to respond to the alert, a great advantage in the event of large earthquakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jose Lara, head of the seismic risk section of Cal OESS, invited the population to stay informed, download the application and be alert for any timely warning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-26097\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-300x171.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"684\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-300x171.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-768x439.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-18x10.jpeg 18w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-150x86.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2-696x398.jpeg 696w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/listos-california-2.jpeg 784w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Listos California offers an emergency alert registration page to connect with your local alert systems based on zip code or location.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The resource also explains the meaning of common alerts and identifies social media accounts associated with local government and emergency services, so that the public can easily access information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before an earthquake it is important to get advance warning seconds that could save lives, to get the information go to California at terrain.ca.gov.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also recommended to secure loose and tall furniture to minimize damage or risk of injury, as well as having an emergency bag and shoes in a place you can find quickly if you have to evacuate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During earthquakes, if you are inside, do not run outside or stay in a doorway.
