Photo: Raul Ayrala<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Listen to this note:<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-26518-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Viviana-5773798.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Viviana-5773798.mp3\">https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Viviana-5773798.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before the Board of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/bos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Mateo County Supervisors<\/a>Sheriff Christina Corpus reiterated on Wednesday, November 13, that not only does she not plan to resign from her position as sheriff, but she has named Victor Aenlle as \u201cassistant sheriff.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aenlle, born in Cuba, is her chief of staff, and an independent investigation report requested by county lawmakers says he has \u201can intimate relationship\u201d with the sheriff that creates a conflict of interest and runs afoul of police organization rules.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Corpus appeared spontaneously at the special supervisors&#039; meeting and asked to be included among the members of the public who were expressing their opinions. Speaking at the meeting, she said, \u201cThe investigation [into her] is politically motivated, biased and full of lies. I am the sheriff of this county, elected by the people, and I will not be intimidated.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sheriff was already leaving the chamber when District 3 Supervisor Ray Mueller asked her if he could submit sworn testimony to the former judge who conducted the investigation, LaDoris Cordell.
