In light of this, it has prepared and issued a series of resources that seek to help this sector of the population in the face of the intensification of raids and deportations by immigration authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the \u201cKnow Your Rights\u201d workshop, which is conducted by the San Mateo County Office of Community Affairs at nonprofit organizations from Daly City to Pescadero, it has added important documents that inform immigrants.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" title=\"Know Your Rights (Spanish)\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/314038081?badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/api\/player.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe immigration system is extremely complex,\u201d said Board of Supervisors Chairman David Canepa. \u201cThese workshops help people gain the confidence they need to navigate that system and can help them better understand the avenues available to them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/conoce-tus-derechos-de-inmigracion.pdf\">Download the document \u201cKnow your immigration rights\u201d here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshops are in line with the County&#039;s recognition as a certified welcoming place by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/certified-welcoming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome America<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, becoming the first county in California to achieve the distinction for its commitment to immigrant inclusion and belonging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the approximately 90-minute workshops, outreach workers in English and Spanish cover a variety of topics that many immigrants consider crucial to their future and that of their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In these meetings, they are also distributed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/know-your-rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">red cards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which include a script to help people assert their rights at home, in the workplace or in a public place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-28085 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"832\" height=\"502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja.jpeg 832w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja-300x181.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja-768x463.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja-18x12.jpeg 18w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja-150x91.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/tarjeta-roja-696x420.jpeg 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 832px) 100vw, 832px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Tarjeta-roja.pdf\">Download your Red Card in Spanish here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, they offer a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/rapid-response-hotline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rapid response hotline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (203-666-4472) to call if federal immigration agents come to your home or work, contacts for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/find-legal-assistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">legal assistance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and additional resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the advice that the workshop leaders have given is that all people in the United States, regardless of their immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the Constitution of this country. You have the right to remain silent. You do not have to open a door unless you are presented with a search warrant from a judge. Instead, they refer people to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/find-legal-assistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">network of free and low-cost immigration legal services providers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some events, attorneys from the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County or other organizations provide guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/ceo\/immigrant-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">resource page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> created by the Office of Community Affairs includes a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smcgov.org\/media\/144308\/download?inline=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guide to available services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for all local residents, regardless of immigration status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Know Your Rights workshops are scheduled and hosted by nonprofits and other community organizations.
