Billionaire Elon Musk<\/a>, used his social media account to spread misinformation about the Mexican Senate's approval for U.S. military personnel to enter the country and combat drug cartels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Musk, who is a close ally of President Donald Trump shared a post from blogger and influencer Nick Sortor, who wrote: \"The Mexican Senate has APPROVED the entry of U.S. Special Forces to fight the cartels. FINALLY!\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Nick Sortor later deleted the post. However before it was deleted Musk reshared the post on his personal X account saying, \"LFG,\" which stands for \"Let\u2019s F***ing Go.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the information is completely false, as the Mexican Senate only approved the entry of a few U.S. military members for collaborative training purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mexican Senate, formally known as the Senate of the Republic, unanimously authorized the head of the Federal Executive Power to allow 10 U.S. Army personnel to enter national territory to participate in a training program called 'Strengthening the Capacity of SEMAR Special Operations Forces.'<\/span><\/p>\n

The proposal was approved by the assembly with 107 votes in favor and sent to the Federal Executive for constitutional action.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the document issued by the Mexican government, the training will take place from February 17 to March 28 at the Specialized Marine Infantry Training Center, located in San Luis Carpizo, Campeche.<\/span><\/p>\n

On behalf of the Navy Commission, Senator Rolando Rodrigo Zapata Bello stated that cooperation with the United States to train Mexico's Navy personnel \"represents a significant opportunity to strengthen national security.\" For this reason, the proposal has been carefully analyzed to ensure that it preserves our sovereignty and strengthens our national capabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that joint training with the U.S. Armed Forces could enhance combat, rescue, navigation, and tactical equipment skills, as well as improve the professionalism, and efficiency of the Mexican Navy to better respond to the growing threats facing the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, he emphasized that this process of modernization and collaboration should not lead to excessive dependence on external technology or training from foreign countries, nor will it persuade Mexico's strategic decisions for foreign interests.<\/b><\/p>\n

In this regard, he highlighted that transparency and accountability are necessary to ensure that this partnership aligns with national interests and does not compromise Mexico's plural, sovereign, and inclusive future. Additionally, investing in the development of Mexican human capital must remain a priority.<\/span><\/p>\n

The goal of the training is for the U.S. Special Operations Command personnel and the Mexican Navy\u2019s Special Operations Unit to conduct training activities, including the execution of tactics, techniques, and procedures for conventional and unconventional combat operations on land and water environments, as well as air operations.<\/span><\/p>\n
