Peninsula 360 Press [<a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/\">P360P<\/a>].<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure accountability and transparency in the Redwood City Police Department, the City is committed to creating a Civilian Advisory Committee for the Redwood City Police Department, thereby expanding and improving police response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The action follows incidents of brutality carried out by members of the police force, which were recorded in several marches held in the summer of 2020, which resulted in several injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The civilian committee is expected to consist of 11 community representatives appointed by the Council, who will report to and advise the Chief of Police.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They may review policies, including those related to use of force or body cameras, discuss crime and police practices, review data on crime and police interactions, or receive annual reports on police personnel complaints.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the committee shall not be empowered to participate in departmental disciplinary and personnel actions, as well as ongoing criminal or internal investigations, active critical incidents, and civic and criminal litigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advisory committee shall be formed when each council member appoints one member for a two-year term, and the full council shall appoint four members for a four-year term.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in joining the Advisory Committee, you can fill out an application on the website at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/210668037214148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/210668037214148<\/a>&nbsp;You will have until March 31 to complete the format.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pamela Cruz.
