Mexico City, Mexico. Marco Antonio Cruz L\u00f3pez, friend, colleague, mentor of Mexican photojournalism and coordinator of photography for Proceso magazine and documentary filmmaker with more than 40 years of experience, died on Friday afternoon, April 2, south of Mexico City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Puebla, Puebla (1957), Marco Antonio Cruz was a photojournalist and founder of the newspaper La Jornada<\/em> (1984), editor of the agency Imagenlatina<\/strong> (1986) which directed for more than a decade from 1987 to 2003.<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagenlatina<\/a> was founded by Marco Antonio Cruz<\/strong> alongside Pedro Valtierra, Andr\u00e9s Garay, Rub\u00e9n Pax, Her\u00f3n Alem\u00e1n and Arturo Fuentes. His career began with the great Mexican photojournalist H\u00e9ctor Garc\u00eda, from whom Marco Antonio continued his work as a mentor and precursor of the new Mexican photojournalism, which combines informative elements with a personal style, revolutionizing the photojournalistic and photodocumentary work of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 15, 2021, he will accompany his colleagues and friends John Mraz, Rebeca Monroy and H\u00e9ctor Zarauz in the presentation of the book \"The book of the world\".Marco Antonio Cruz:<\/em> the construction of a gaze (1976-1986)<\/em>\"written by Alberto del Castillo.
