{"id":5082,"date":"2021-04-08T07:44:03","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T15:44:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/?p=5082"},"modified":"2021-04-08T07:44:03","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T15:44:03","slug":"la-fotografa-de-siete-mares-maria-paula-martinez-jauregui","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/la-fotografa-de-siete-mares-maria-paula-martinez-jauregui\/","title":{"rendered":"The photographer of \"Siete Mares\": Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/?s=mazzotti\">Constanza Mazzotti<\/a> Peninsula 360 Press [P360P]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/V6A9516.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5107\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui is a photographer. <em>freelance<\/em> who has published his most recent photographic work in his book entitled \"<a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/covid-19-in-mexico-city-by-photographer-maria-paula-martinez\/\">Pandemic<\/a>\"She is the same one who is behind the lens of Siete Mares, and the same one who is in charge of Covid-19 in Mexico City's public hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/V6A9455.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5113\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Siete Mares or Antonio Arg\u00fcelles, known as such by an exclusive sporting guild in Mexico, is the only open water swimmer who since 2009 to date has crossed the English, Catalina, Molokai and North channels and the Straits of Tsugaru, Gibraltar and Cook and is currently training to make, in July and early August, a double crossing of the English Channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/DJI_0115.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5108\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Antonio Ang\u00fcelles Siete Mares is also Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, a title for which it is necessary to complete three long distance swims: the English Channel, the Catalina Channel and the circumnavigation of the island of Manhattan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/V6A9483.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5110\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But the dream of crossing the most dangerous seas in the world was silently woven from the small family pool that Antonio Arguelles frequented on childhood trips and that was revealed before his eyes when he witnessed one of the most emblematic Mexican Olympic triumphs at his young age of nine: the victory of \"El Tibio\" Felipe Mu\u00f1oz in the '68 Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/V6A9397.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5111\"\/><figcaption>Photo: Mar\u00eda Paula Mart\u00ednez J\u00e1uregui<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Maria Paula Martinez began photographing Seven Seas work in 2019 as she needed someone to cover in images her training in La Jolla, California to prepare for crossing the Catalina Channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was through a family recommendation that Mar\u00eda Paula's work attracted the attention of the swimmer, from that moment and every time there is training or competition, the photographer travels in the open sea next to Arg\u00fcelles on a kayak and in the company of the personal trainer of the open water swimmer, the Uruguayan Rafael \u00c1lvarez. Mar\u00eda Paula is a professional freelance photographer since 2018, one of her first jobs was the realization of a photo documentary of marine conservation in Revillagigedo.
