Peninsula 360 Press [<a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/?s=pamela+cruz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">P360P<\/a>]&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 151 percent increase in the number of acres burned in California compared to 2020, Cal Fire said, so it recommended the population to be prepared for any eventuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through his Twitter account he said that in 2020 there were 260,339 acres burned because of five thousand 444 fires, while this year there have been six thousand 091 fires, which have caused the burning of 656,177.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Compared to this same time last year, we have seen an astounding 151% increase in acres burned across California and it is only August! Learn what by visiting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/M15yLZz5Y7\">https:\/\/t.co\/M15yLZz5Y7<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/26TrLdrESm\">pic.twitter.com\/26TrLdrESm<\/a><\/p>- CAL FIRE (@CAL_FIRE) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CAL_FIRE\/status\/1423400000378195974?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 5, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He recommended preparing an emergency kit in case of a wildfire or other disaster and keeping it on hand in case you evacuate and have to be away from home for an extended period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kit should have masks, three days' worth of non-perishable food and three gallons of water per person; a map with at least two evacuation routes, a change of clothing, flashlight, radio and batteries, extra sets of keys and credit cards, cash and copies of important documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>State of emergency due to increase in fires<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday proclaimed a state of emergency for Siskiyou County due to the Antelope Fire, and for Nevada and Placer counties due to the River Fire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fires, the governor's office said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2021\/08\/05\/governor-newsom-proclaims-state-of-emergency-in-siskiyou-nevada-and-placer-counties-due-to-fires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comunicado<\/a>have together burned thousands of acres, destroyed homes and caused the evacuation of thousands of residents in the counties mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Governor announced that the State of California was awarded a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to support the state's response to the River Fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>California also recently obtained FMAG assistance to support the response to the Dixie and Lava Fires, while the Governor issued an emergency proclamation for counties affected by the Lava Fire and the Beckwourth Complex Fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You may be interested in: <a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/newsom-announces-largest-investment-in-history-to-fight-wildfires\/\">Newsom Announces Largest Firefighting Investment in History<\/a><\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Por Pamela Cruz.
