Most of them are believed to have been from Guatemala.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update: <\/strong>The Attorney General&#039;s Office (FGR) of Mexico announced that there have already been 53 fatalities as of 8:30 p.m. Through a press release, the federal investigative body declared that: &quot;As this is a regrettable case of migrants that occurred on a federal communication route, the Specialized Prosecutor&#039;s Office for Human Rights (FEMDH) will act together with the Specialized Prosecutor&#039;s Office for Regional Control (FECOR), as well as with all the technical and support personnel necessary, to carry out the corresponding proceedings.&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Tuxtla Guti\u00e9rrez, Chiapas, specifically on the Puente Belisario Dom\u00ednguez and Ribera Cauhar\u00e9 bridge on the Chiapa de Corzo-Tuxtla highway, a cargo truck transporting migrants lost control during a braking maneuver around 3:30 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local authorities are reporting a high death toll, 49 as of 5:00 p.m. In addition, 58 people are reported injured, of whom 3 were transferred to specialized hospitals due to the severity of their injuries, which are life-threatening. Government and private hospitals are treating the injured in different regions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Witnesses claim that while turning a dangerous curve, the cargo truck made a desperate maneuver to reduce its excessive speed; the cargo container in which the migrants were found without safety measures overturned due to the sudden braking, resulting in the fatalities of 49 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rescue workers and civilians immediately came to the aid of survivors, and ambulances from the Civil Protection of the state of Chiapas have transferred an unidentified number of injured people to nearby hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor of the state of Chiapas, Rutilio Escand\u00f3n, issued a statement via Twitter to express his condolences and make the accident public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">My solidarity with the victims of the traffic accident that occurred on the Chiapa de Corzo-Tuxtla Gtz stretch.
