U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken<\/a> He expressed his concern about the murders of journalists in Mexico, and thus joined the protests of other countries and Mexican and foreign organizations against the attacks against the journalistic profession.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe high number of journalists killed in Mexico this year and the continued threats they face are worrying. I join those calling for greater accountability and protection for Mexican journalists. My heart goes out to the loved ones of those who gave their lives for the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement made through his Twitter account raised hackles in the Mexican government, as the president of Mexico, Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, said that he "is not well informed."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"He is misinformed, because otherwise he would be acting in bad faith. Of course it is very regrettable that there are murders of journalists. It is just that in all cases action is being taken. There is no impunity. If the head of the State Department intervenes, then I think that he does not know, he is not well informed," he said in his morning press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the government of President Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador began in 2018, 151 journalists and human rights defenders have been murdered, which is why Antony Blinken expressed his concern about the murders of journalists in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, Jos\u00e9 Luis Gamboa, director of a news portal, was killed in the state of Veracruz; freelance photographer Margarito Mart\u00ednez and journalist Lourdes Maldonado were killed in the border city of Tijuana; and Roberto Toledo, a contributor to the Monitor Michoac\u00e1n portal, was shot in the city of Zit\u00e1cuaro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 10, journalist Heber L\u00f3pez V\u00e1squez was murdered in the municipality of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the context of these statements, television host Michell Sim\u00f3n Tadeo was also killed, her body was found in a spot south of Mexico City, reported the Attorney General's Office (FGJCDMX), bringing the number of people related to the media killed so far this year to six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After losing contact with the model and actress for more than three days, her parents traveled from Veracruz to Mexico City in order to file a complaint with the authorities and find her whereabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workers from an ejidal area who were mitigating a fire in the town of Santo Tom\u00e1s Ajusco, Tlalpan municipality, informed the authorities about the discovery of a woman's body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the FGJCDMX said it is working together with the Secretariat of Citizen Security on different lines of investigation, in addition to maintaining contact with family and friends to clarify the facts surrounding the victim's death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far this year, six journalists have been murdered in the country. These events have triggered expressions of concern and demands for protection for the journalistic profession from the Mexican government, by national and international organizations, and by foreign governments, such as Antony Blinken, who expressed his concern about the murders of journalists in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
