Photo: Anna Lee Mraz \/ Casa C\u00edrculo Cultural<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>San Mateo County has launched a call for proposals from residents to \u201cReimagine Flood Park\u201d to improve the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An analysis conducted in 2015 of this space located in Menlo Park revealed the need to improve and replace part of the infrastructure of this space located near North Fair Oak, where for 86 years, the community of San Mateo County has been able to live together and enjoy various outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, in 2022, the time has come to launch this project, now called \u201cRealize Flood Park.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, March 12, Casa C\u00edrculo Cultural held a consultation at its facilities in which the county parks department participated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this event, Casa C\u00edrculo Cultural screened a video titled \u201cA day at the Park Activities\u201d in which it showed some of the activities carried out by the Casa C\u00edrculo children during a visit to Flood Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"ufHE1TeJx0U\"><iframe title=\"Flood Park Cultural Circle House\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ufHE1TeJx0U?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The park&#039;s 2020 Landscape Plan was also reviewed with the community, and information stations and a survey were used to gather opinions on the community&#039;s needs for the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What improvements does the \u201cRealize Flood Park\u201d project include?<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the improvements that have been contemplated in this project are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Imaginative and adventurous play spaces that are accessible to people of all abilities.<\/li><li>A restored baseball field and two new multi-purpose sports fields<\/li><li>New meeting spaces and picnic areas<\/li><li>Trails and demonstration gardens<\/li><li>Use of the preserved adobe building in the center of the park for community purposes.<\/li><li>Preservation of heritage trees and sowing of seeds for a more resilient and biodiverse landscape.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to participate in the \u201cRealize Flood Park\u201d project?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although improvements to this space are necessary and evident, there are members of the community who oppose their implementation, which is why everyone&#039;s participation is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, the San Mateo County Parks Department has made a survey available to all residents (in English and Spanish) in which they can not only support the project, but also contribute new ideas and share their comments and concerns about improving Flood Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate you only have to enter to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>English version:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/realize-flood-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/realize-flood-park<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>English version: <a href=\"https:\/\/es.surveymonkey.com\/r\/realizar-flood-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/es.surveymonkey.com\/r\/realizar-flood-park<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more about the project visit the page:<a href=\"https:\/\/parks.smcgov.org\/realize-flood-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> https:\/\/parks.smcgov.org\/realize-flood-park<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You may be interested in: <a href=\"https:\/\/peninsula360press.com\/en\/food-in-redwood-city-schools\/\">Efforts to improve food quality in Redwood City schools continue<\/a><\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El Condado de San Mateo lanz\u00f3 la convocatoria \u00abReimagine Flood Park\u00bb para que los residentes aporten sus propuestas para mejorar este espacio.
