Claudia Sheinbaum will defend migrants who are in the United States, as he announced that he will carry out changes in the Mexican consulates, with the aim of benefiting his fellow citizens.
Last Wednesday, November 6, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said during her morning press conference that she will soon present a support scheme that will be implemented in Mexican consulates in the United States.
The issue of mass deportations that will affect Mexicans living in the United States was discussed, as Donald Trump's immigration plan generates great uncertainty for migrants.
"We will always be with them and defend them, that is our task and function. We will soon present the entire support scheme from the consulates, because the consulates are going to significantly modify the way in which they serve and facilitate the legal and administrative support required by all of our brothers and sisters in the United States," Sheinbaum commented.
With a message of reassurance, he assured Mexicans that there is no reason for concern, as there is a good relationship with the man who already governed the northern neighbor between 2016 and 2020, Donald Trump.
"Mexico always comes out ahead. We are a free, independent, sovereign country and there will be a good relationship with the United States. I am convinced of that," she said.
According to figures from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), by 2022, nearly 11 million undocumented migrants were living in the United States, a figure that has currently increased.
Regarding Trump's victory over Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris, Claudia Sheinbaum has already officially congratulated Donald Trump today, November 7, and also mentioned that she would have a phone call with the president-elect of the United States in order to personally congratulate him on his electoral victory.
The call was scheduled for around 9:30 a.m. "Today at 9:30 in the morning we have a call with President-elect Donald Trump. (…) It will be a cordial call of congratulations," he said.
Through her official account, Sheinbaum yesterday publicly congratulated the candidate by republishing through X, formerly Twitter.
"I express my most sincere congratulations to Donald Trump, who won the presidential election of the United States of America. On behalf of Mexico, we acknowledge the American people for their democratic exercise in their election campaign. I am certain that we will continue to work together in a coordinated manner, with dialogue and respect for our sovereignties, to advance the broad bilateral agenda that links us," she wrote.
The President of Mexico assured Mexicans that there is nothing to fear, because "we will continue working together."
"To all our fellow countrymen and women, to the businessmen and women: there is no reason to worry, Mexico always moves forward. We are a free, independent, sovereign country and there will be a good relationship with the United States. I am convinced of this," she said.
He concluded by stating that there will be time to discuss all the issues on the bilateral agenda, which are many, reiterating that there will be a good relationship with the American businessman.
