The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, made history on Tuesday, April 4, after he became the first president to face criminal charges.

These are the 5 points that you should know, so far, of what is happening with the "Trump case".

1.- The former president of the United States, businessman and politician, Donald John Trump, became the first president charged with criminal charges on Tuesday, April 4.

Trump, 76, voluntarily appeared before the Criminal Court in Manhattan, New York, where, in police custody, a judge informed him of 34 charges against him, the same of which the businessman and politician also pleaded "not guilty".

2.- The accusation of Donald Trump is for "falsification of business records in the first degree," said Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, who has investigated the payment of $130,000 to former porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet that he had an extramarital relationship with the man who, at that time, was running for president of the United States.

And while the payment itself is not illegal, Trump allegedly recorded it as an expense from his business, and in New York falsifying such information, is. And it's just why the prosecutors decided to charge him.

3.- To the above, it is added that the payment was made before the 2016 elections, therefore it violates the electoral law; and because hiding the payments from Daniels was motivated by not wanting voters to know that he had an affair outside of marriage, let alone with a porn actress.

3.- The accusation was revealed only last Tuesday, which provides the public and Trump's legal team with the first details about the specific charges. The former president pleaded not guilty to all charges and was in this first appearance for about an hour.

4.- The possible trial of the people of New York against Donald J. Trump, could take place within a year or more, which opens the possibility that the former president will face a jury in a Manhattan court in the middle of the campaign to return to the White House, or even after the November 2024 election.

5.- The former porn actress, Stormy Daniels, has indicated that she is willing to testify if she is called to do so, so she is willing to collaborate with justice. However, she considered that the crimes imputed to Trump against her are not "worthy of imprisonment."
