Thousands of California children need help preparing for their kindergarten journey, and this may be the perfect opportunity for you to make a difference as a preschool teacher in San Mateo County.
AmeriCorps along with Reading Corps is offering 15 jobs for those who will spend their days helping children ages 3-5 years old to talk, read, write, sing, and play in order to develop early literacy and math skills to prepare them for kindergarten.
Recruiting is currently underway for the 2021-22 school year.
This is a membership post, so the earnings are modest.
What does it take to be a teacher in San Mateo County?
Great tutors come from all walks of life. Whether you're 18 or 85, the most important qualification is a desire to help children succeed. That said, you must also meet the following requirements:
Be reliable and have a history of good attendance.
Able to understand and follow instructions
Be motivated by young students and want to help them discover new things.
Eager to work collaboratively with the classroom teaching team.
Have basic computer skills, such as email and online browsing
Speak, read and write English fluently.
18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
Be a U.S. citizen, national or alien, or lawful permanent resident.
