The idea of help began during the COVID-19 pandemic where Bautista, together with a group of approximately eleven women, were determined to help their community.

Thus it was that they began to inform the population of East San José about the vaccination programs as well as the performance of antigenic tests.

Over time, the aid program has been benefiting from resources that are allocated to programs for the population. Such is the case of the contract they have with the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health, with which they began to inform people about the health risks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Imelda Bautista told Peninsula 360 Press that the META women's group was the first to take action by knocking on doors offering information on care.

Currently, there are three members of META who work hand in hand with the Stanford Medicine Community Participation program until June of this year. They are Maribel Ruiz, Luz María Mendoza and Imelda Bautista herself.

Within this program, the promoters dedicate themselves to certain main axes, such as carrying out COVID tests, generating and monitoring the COVID vaccine schedule, providing information and monitoring for people interested in obtaining health insurance coverage and advising on the management of CalFresh, a food stamp program in the state of California as well as providing information on mental health.

In the same way, Bautista comments that they have received training from the Stanford Medicine Community Participation Office that has been key to being able to get even closer to the population thanks to the workshops that Stanford Medicine has given them on how to get closer to people, how to provide appropriate information to children, youth and adults about the health services they provide.

For more information about the health promoter service as well as the antigen tests and COVID vaccines, the population can go to the address 1775 Story Road, San José California 95122, Suit 120 or contact the promoters via their Facebook page.
