The story of Miguel Ángel Jiménez Jácome, a programmer in Sunnyvale, California, may be surprising not only because of the success he has achieved at his young age, but also because it contains a couple of amusing anecdotes about the scope of his career and success. A success that, he says, is not in money but in well-being.

Born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Miguel Angel, who does not exceed the average age of thirty, spoke to the segment "Portraits of the Bay Area" of Peninsula 360 Press, where he told of having studied computer systems at the University of Veracruz, where he acquired the theoretical and practical bases to currently have eight years of experience as a programmer of Android and iOS mobile applications.

During his short but prolific career, he has been one of seven leaders in the project to re-engineer US Bank's mobile banking in Minneapolis, Minnesota, impacting five million users.

In addition, he has represented the Universidad Veracruzana in the international competition "24 Hours of Innovation", obtaining second place among 200 universities around the world.

Currently, Miguel Angel is working for Walmart Inc. in Sunnyvale, California, where he has had an outstanding participation in the re-development of Walmart's e-commerce mobile application, which has more than 50 million downloads on Google Play.

The challenges he has faced in the job search have been around a change of mindset.

In this sense, he explained that the answer lies in demonstrating an open attitude to challenges, even when one is faced with not meeting 100 percent of the profile requested by companies, but Miguel Ángel knew, from a very young age, that what counts is to transmit the great commitment to growth, an action that foreign companies value, even, he mentioned, more than Mexican companies.

The young programmer reports that the work environments in which he works are mostly characterized by a high level of multiculturalism, since nine of the 10 people who work in the company are immigrants, including himself.

We were born in other countries and were given visas to come to the United States. This has made the offices multicultural with celebrations emblematic of many countries around the world," he said.
