Brazil: Free Party gains the largest bench in Congress

After the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court computed 99.99 percent of the votes that were cast by voters this October 2nd during the first round of the electoral contest, it is a fact that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva - Workers' Party - and Jair Messias Bolsonaro will face each other in a second round on October 30th. However, the Free Party - to which Bolsonaro belongs - won the largest seat in Congress. 

These are the results of the voting in all states:

São Paulo

The main city of the country in terms of population and venue of the closing of the campaign of the two presidential candidates, Luiz Inácio da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro, showed important "bolsonaristas" forces, giving the latter 47.71 percent of the votes, followed by Lula da Silva with 40.88 percent. The gubernatorial candidates, while Tarcisio and Fernando Haddad, will be contested in a second round.

As senator, Astronaut Marcos Pontes of the Liberal Party won with 49.68 percent of the votes. In addition, for federal deputy, Guilherme Boulos obtained the majority of the votes with one million one thousand 472 million votes and for state deputy, the majority was obtained by Eduardo Suplicy with 807 thousand 15 votes.

Rio de Janeiro

In Rio de Janeiro, Jair Bolsonaro won 51.07 percent of the votes, followed by Lula da Silva with 40.69 percent. For governor, Claudio Castro of the Liberal Party obtained 58.67 percent of the votes and for senator, Romário, of the same party, obtained 29.17 percent of the votes. Finally, for federal deputies, Daniela do Waguinho obtained the majority of votes with a total of 213 thousand 56 votes and for state deputies, Márcio Canella obtained 180 thousand 829 votes.

Acre

In Acre, Jair Bolsonaro was strongly favored with 62.50 percent of the votes, while Lula da Silva obtained 29.24 percent of the votes. In addition, Gladson Cameli won for governor with 56.75 percent of the votes and Alan Rick won for senator with 37.46 percent of the votes; while Socorro Neri obtained the majority of votes as federal deputy with 25,839 votes and Nicolau Junior as state deputy with 16,629 votes.

Alagoas

In the state of Alagoas, Lula won with 56.50 percent of the votes, followed by Jaír Bolsonaro with 36.05 percent. Meanwhile, for the gubernatorial seats there will be a runoff between Paulo Dantas and Rodrigo Cunha. 

Renan Filho was elected senator with 56.92 percent of the votes and for the federal deputies, Arthur Lira obtained the majority of votes with a total of 219,453, while for the state deputies, Alexandre Ayres obtained the majority with 61,142 votes.

Amapá

In Amapá, Lula obtained 45.67 percent of the votes, while Bolsonaro obtained 43.41 percent. As governor for the state, Cléico was elected with 53.69 percent of the votes and as senator, Davi with 47.88 percent.

In the federal deputies, Josenildo obtained the most votes, with a total of 27,112 votes, while for the state deputies, Delegado Inacio obtained the most votes with 14,163 votes.

Amazon 

In the state of Amazonas, da Silva obtained 49.58 percent of the votes, while Bolsonaro obtained 42.80 percent. In the case of the gubernatorial candidacies, Wilson Lima and Eduardo Braga will debate in a second round and for senator, Omar Aziz and Colonel Meneses.

For federal deputies, Amom Mandel obtained 288,555 votes and for state deputies, Roberto Cidade obtained 105,506 votes.

Bay

The Bahia area showed strong support for presidential candidate Lula da Silva, giving him 69.73 percent of the votes, as opposed to Jair Bolsonaro, who obtained 24.31 percent. In the case of the gubernatorial candidates, Jerónimo and ACM Neto will face each other in a second round, while Otto Alencar was elected as senator. 

In the case of federal deputies, Otto Hijo, of the Social Democratic Party obtained the majority of votes with a total of 200,909 and for state deputies, Ivana Bastos, of the same party obtained 118,417 votes.

Ceará

The state of Ceará also showed strong preferences for da Silva, giving him 65.91 percent of the votes, while Bolsonaro obtained only 25.38 percent. As governor, Elmano de Fritas won with 54.02 percent and as senator, Camillo with 69.76 percent.

For federal and state deputies, there was a preference for the Liberal Party, giving the majority of votes to André Fernandes and Carmelo Neto, respectively.

Federal District

In the case of the Federal District, Jair Bolsonaro was preferred with 51.65 percent of the votes, followed by Lula da Silva with 36.85 percent. In addition, Ibaneís Rocha was elected as governor with 50.30 percent of the votes and as senator, Damares Alves with 44.98 percent.

Bia Kicis obtained the majority of votes for federal deputies and Fabio Felix for state deputies.

Espírito Santo

In Espírito Santo there was a preference for Bolsonaro, giving him 52.23 percent of the votes, while da Silva obtained 40.40 percent. Renato Casagrande and Manato will debate for the gubernatorial candidacy in a second round, and Magnus Malta was elected senator.

In the case of federal deputies, Helder Salomon obtained the majority of votes with 120,337 and for state deputies, Sergio Meneguelli obtained 138,523 votes.

Goiás

Goiás strongly favored Jair Bolsonaro with 52.16 percent of the votes and gave da Silva 39.51 percent. As governor, Ronaldo Caiado was elected with 51.81 percent and as senator, Morais Salvaje with 29.25 percent.

In addition, Sylvie Alvés obtained 254,653 votes for the federal deputies and Bruno Peixoto obtained 73,692 votes for the state deputies.

Maranhão

In Maranhão, there was a strong preference for da Silva, who took 68.84 percent of the votes and Bolsonaró only 26.02 percent. In addition, Carlos Brandão was elected governor with 51.29 percent of the votes and Flávio Dino as senator with 62.41 percent of the votes.

Sostiene obtained the majority of votes in the federal deputies with 161,205 and Valle de Iracema 104,729.

Mato Grosso

Mato Grosso showed strong support for Jair Bolsonaro, giving him 59.84 percent of the total votes, while da Silva obtained 34.39 percent. As governor, Mauro Mendes won with 68.45 percent and as senator Fagundas de Wellington with 63.54 percent. 

For federal deputies, Fabio Garcia obtained the most votes, with a total of 98,704, and for state deputies, Janaina Riva obtained 82,124.

Mato Grosso do Sul

In Mato Grosso do Sul there was also a strong preference for Bolsonaro, who in this region obtained 52.70 percent of the votes, as opposed to da Silva who obtained 39.04 percent. For their part, Captain Conde and Eduardo Riedel will face each other in a second round due to the fact that they obtained 26.71 and 25.16 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, Tereza Cristina was elected senator with 60.85 percent of the votes.

In addition, Marcos Pollón obtained the majority of votes for federal deputies with a total of 103,111 and for state deputies, Mara Casera obtained 49,512.

Minas Gerais

Lula da Silva obtained 48.29 percent of the votes, while Jair Bolsonaro obtained 43.60 percent. For his part, Zena won as governor with 56.18 percent and Cleitinho as senator with 41.52 percent. Meanwhile, Nikolas Ferreira obtained the majority of votes for federal deputies and Bruno Engler for state deputies.

Parana

In this region Bolsonaro was favored, taking 55.26 percent of the total votes, as opposed to da Silva, who took 35.99 percent. In addition, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior was elected governor with 69.64 percent and Sergio Moro was elected senator with 33.50 percent of the votes.

In the case of the federal deputies, Deltan Dallagnol obtained 344,917 votes and in the state deputies, Alejandro Curi obtained 237,333 votes.

Paraíba

Paraíba showed a strong preference for candidate Lula da Silva, giving him a total of 64.21 percent of the votes, as opposed to Bolsonaro, who in this region obtained only 29.62 percent. Meanwhile, Juan ?of the PSB? and Pedro Cuña Lima ?of the PSDB? will face each other in a second round for governor. In addition, Efrain Son was elected as senator.

For the federal deputies, Hugo Motta obtained the majority of votes and for the state deputies, Adrián Galdino obtained the majority of votes.

Pará

In this region, there was a preference for Da Silva, who obtained 52.55 percent of the votes, compared to Bolsonaro who obtained 40.27 percent. As governor, the MDB's incumbent was elected with 70.41 percent and as senator, Beto Faro with 42.55 percent.

In the case of the federal deputies, Alessandra Haber obtained 258,907 votes and in the state deputies, Chamonzinho obtained 109,287 votes.

Pernambuco

In Pernambuco, support for candidate Lula da Silva was evident, as he won 65.27 percent of the votes, leaving Jair Bolsonaro, who obtained in this region only 29.91 percent, behind. On the other hand, Marília Arraes and Raquel Lira will face each other in a second round to define who will be governor, while Teresa Leitã won as senator with 46.12 percent of the total votes. Finally, André Ferreira obtained the majority of votes for federal deputies and Pastor Junio Tercio for state deputies.

Piauí

This region was one of those showing the highest preference for Lula da Silva, giving him 74.25 percent of the votes, leaving Bolsonaro far behind with 19.90 percent. Likewise, Rafael Fonteles was elected as governor of the state with 57.17 percent and Dias de Wellington as senator with 51.34 percent. In addition, for federal deputies Julio Cesar obtained 134,863 votes and for state deputies Georgiano 109,25.

Rio Grande do Norte

In Rio Grande do Norte there was also a strong preference for da Silva, who obtained 62.98 percent of the votes, as opposed to the current president Jair Bolsonaro, who received 31.02 percent. Fátima Bezerra was positioned as governor thanks to 58.31 percent of the votes and Rogério Marinho as senator with 41.85 percent. In the case of federal deputies, Natalia Bonavides obtained 157 thousand 565 votes and for state deputies, Wende GKG obtained 88 thousand 265.

Rio Grande do Sul

In this region, Jair Bolsonaro obtained 48.89 percent of the votes, while Lula da Silva obtained 42.28 percent. In addition, a governor was not defined in this first round, so Onix Lorenzoni and Eduardo Leite will face each other in a second round, while Hamilton Mourão was elected as senator with 44.11 percent of the votes.

In the case of federal deputies, Lieutenant Colonel Zucco obtained 259,23 votes and in the case of state deputies, Gustavo Victorino obtained 112,920 votes.

Rondônia

Jair Bolsonaro showed a strong preference in this region, obtaining 64.36 percent of the votes, leaving behind da Silva, who received only 28.98 percent of the votes. This region also failed to define a governor, so Colonel Marcos Rocha and Marcos Rogerio will face each other in a second round. As senator, Jaime Bagattoli obtained the victory. Meanwhile, for federal deputies, Fernando Máximo obtained the majority of votes and for state deputies, Laerte Gomes.

Roraima

In Roraima, Jair Bolsonaro was also favored, obtaining 69.57 percent of the total votes, while Lula da Silva had 23.05 percent. Antonio Denarium was positioned as governor with 56.47 percent of the votes and Dr. Hiran as senator with 46.43 percent.

In the case of the federal deputies, Jhonatan de Jesus obtained the majority of the votes and in the state deputies, Private Sampaio obtained the majority of the votes.

Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina showed greater preference for Bolsonaro, giving him 62.21 percent of the votes, as opposed to da Silva, to whom the region gave 29.54 percent. In this first round a governor was not defined, so Jorginho Melo and Décio Lima will face each other in the second round. In addition, Jorge Seif managed to position himself as senator with 39.79 percent. 

Carol de Toni obtained the majority of votes for the federal deputies, while Ana Campagnolo obtained the majority of votes for the state deputies.

Sergipe

In this region, presidential candidate Lula da Silva obtained greater support with 63.82 percent of the votes, compared to Bolsonaro who only obtained 29.16 percent. In addition, a governor was also not defined, so that Rogério Carvalho and Fábio will go to a second round. Laércio was elected as state senator and Yandra de André and Cristiano Cavalcante obtained the majority of votes for federal and state deputies, respectively.

Tocantins

Finally, in Tocantins, Lula da Silva obtained 50.40 percent of the votes and Jair Bolsonaro 44 percent. In addition, Wanderlin Barbosa won as governor with 58.14 percent of the votes and Dorinha as senator with 50.42 percent.

In the case of federal deputies, Toinho Andrade obtained the majority of votes and Leo Barbosa for state deputies.
