Christmas is over, and another year is about to end. And yes, after spending hours taking out lights, decorations and more for the Christmas tree, many will prepare to remove them and keep those details that make them unique in homes for at least 11 months.
But how and when should you take down the Christmas tree in San Mateo County? here we explain.
Once you've removed all the tinsel, lights, decorations and stands from your Christmas tree, you can leave the tree next to your green compost cart and recology Will pick it up between 2 and 31 January on your regular collection day.
For trees taller than 8 feet, the tree will need to be cut to lengths of 8 feet or less before placing it next to or inside your green compost cart.
After January 31, trees must be cut into smaller sections and placed inside the green compost cart for collection.
For apartment/condo managers, they will need to contact San Mateo County Recology to coordinate Christmas tree collection. Trees can be collected in piles or in a mailbox at no additional charge.
For more information, interested parties may contact Recology at (650) 595-3900.
