The Redwood City Police arrested two people on multiple charges, including vehicle theft.
On January 27, officers with the Redwood City Police Department (RCPD) located a van parked in the area of Buckeye and Chew streets that appeared to have been stolen. Using the department's Flock camera system database, officers were able to confirm that it had been stolen.
Officers contacted two subjects, one of whom was observed entering the stolen vehicle.
Redwood City residents Oswaldo Mayen García (25 years old) and Scott Huhtala (66 years old) were arrested at the scene.
Further investigation determined that there were two other stolen vehicles, a pickup truck and a motorcycle, that were also parked in the same area.
It was determined that Mayen García was a suspect in all three vehicle thefts, so he was arrested and charged with three counts of auto theft.
While Huhtala was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a minor warrant, reasons for which he was issued a summons and released from the scene.
