Yamileth was a young woman studying psychology and volunteering with an animal rights group. She left home with her sister and parents to buy food when she was hit by a bullet. For her parents, Demetrio Aroquipa and Dominga Hancco, the loss of Yamileth was like a nightmare from which they could not wake up.
“I asked the International Court of Human Rights to help us find justice, but in Peru we no longer have justice. I asked for justice for my daughter and for everything that happened to us that day and other days during these protests. We were crushed by the police. It is sad what we are experiencing in Peru.” says Dominga.
