Starting this weekend and for the next three, East Palo Alto residents will receive support from the organization Youth United for Community Action (YUCA) to apply for state rental assistance.
Over the next four weekends, young volunteers will be supporting all East Palo Alto residents who need or have applied for state rental assistance due to the economic problems they are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was reported by YUCA Executive Director Ofelia Bello, who in an interview with P360P stated that over the past two years many California residents have applied for rental assistance due to the economic hardship caused by the pandemic.
"Tenants still have time to submit an application to the state, but they should do so as soon as possible because funds are running out," the activist stressed.
He added that those tenants who have already made a request, but have not heard any news for the last four weeks, need to approach the organizations or individuals who helped them do it, since there may be pending or missing data.
"If these issues are not addressed, your application may be placed in inactive status, and that is what we do not want to happen," he said.
She also reminded that East Palo Alto residents will receive state rental assistance for the next four weekends, where YUCA youth will support all residents who need help from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"We invite all East Palo Alto residents who have applied without a response or who have not yet applied to come to one of the four upcoming weekends; we will be there with volunteers to help review the status of your application and resolve any pending issues," he said.
