A federal Disaster Recovery Center will remain open at the San Mateo County Events Center through March 14 to help residents affected by the recent storms learn about available assistance.

Operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the California Office of Emergency Services, the center will operate daily at the San Mateo County Events Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., including weekends.

However, please note that the centre will close at 5pm on Tuesday 14 March.

The new closing date extends the operation of the Disaster Recovery Center by approximately one month, although the deadline to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is March 16, 2023.

San Mateo County is included in the California severe storm and flooding disaster declaration, meaning residents who suffered damage from the storms that began in late December 2022 can apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

Disaster assistance may include grants to help pay for temporary housing and essential home repairs, as well as other serious disaster-related needs, such as medical and dental expenses, transportation, child care, and moving and storage costs.

To enter the Event Center, please enter through the west entrance of the parking lot located at 2495 South Delaware St. in San Mateo. Disaster recovery staff is located in Cypress Hall.
