Super Tuesday a key day to define the future of the United States
Super Tuesday is the big day for primary elections in the United States, but many people are used to primaries being held in June, but this time it was in March, so it can seem confusing to people, and could even lead to a low number of voters, said Connie Guerrero.

Super Tuesday is the big day of primary elections in the United States, with the largest number of states and the largest number of delegates at stake; it brings together 15 contests for Republicans and 16 for Democrats spread across the country.

This year, primaries will be held in 15 states and one territory: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and American Samoa.

Many people are used to primaries being held in June, but this time it was held in March, so it can seem confusing to people, and could even lead to a low number of voters, said Connie Guerrero. in a chat with Manuel Ortiz during the program Península 360 Radio in collaboration with Marcos Gutiérrez of «Hecho en California».

Connie Guerrero is president of the Women's Voting League of San Mateo Since 2021, her job is to promote the voting participation of this sector, as well as of youth, because she affirms that it is necessary to fight for the rights of women, our daughters and granddaughters; that is why Their work is very important, as the number of participants in the elections is increasingly lower.

Connie believes that many people do not vote because they think their vote is not important, since there are only two real candidates, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joseph Biden, so voting differently would not make a difference.

"Every vote counts, we have seen many times that campaigns are defined by very few votes, for example, in Redwood City, formerly Two candidates ran and won by a difference of 15 votes, so every vote counts in the elections.”, added Connie Guerrero.

The voting advocate considered that it is important to encourage participation in the elections on March 5, and it should be a joint effort. She said that a key element is the financing that goes to the different organizations that have the opportunity to reach out to the communities, but more resources should be obtained for this.

Guerrero invited society in general to come to their counties and seek to be part of the programs and spaces serving the community, as this is how ties are created between the communities and their needs.

"Not only do you have to participate today, you have to take the next step and apply to help represent our community“Connie stressed.

Finally, I invite all those who have the power to vote to be part of these elections, "If you don't participate, you let the decisions be made for you.”, He added that in San Mateo County, participation is low, with only approximately 40 percent of those registered voting.
