colleges within the San Mateo County Community College District

Bay City News

San Mateo County residents do not have to pay registration fees for the upcoming spring semester at any of the universities within the San Mateo County Community College District ?SMCCCD, for its acronym in English,? the district announced this week.

California Senate Bill 893, passed by the state Legislature and signed by Governor Gavin Newsom this year, authorizes the district to use unrestricted general funds to waive registration fees for the upcoming spring semester.

SMCCCD schools are Canada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College.

The bill only eliminates fees for the San Mateo County district because it is a region with a high cost of living, according to the bill's author, state Sen. Joshua Becker, D-San Mateo. Depending on documented financial need, students may also be exempt from paying other fees.

Those who are not San Mateo County residents may still qualify for other scholarship programs and free services.

Students with irregular immigration status who reside in San Mateo County and who are also eligible for the non-resident fee waiver for undocumented students may qualify for both the tuition fee waiver and this tuition fee waiver. inscription.

It should be noted that new students can receive aid after applying to SMCCCD universities and confirming their address and residence.

The waiver will be automatically applied to continuing student accounts after address confirmation.
