The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, is getting off the train of the race heading for the presidency of the United States, after this Sunday he announced the end of his candidacy for the White House, endorsing former President Donald Trump.
?We have no clear path to victory. Consequently, today I am suspending my campaign. I'm proud to have kept 100 of my promises and I won't stop now. “It is clear to me that the majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” DeSantis said in a speech he broadcast through his social networks.
In the message lasting just over four and a half minutes, DeSantis said that, although his wife had disagreements with Donald Trump such as in the coronavirus pandemic, "Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That's clear?.
The Republican stressed that he signed a commitment to support the Republican candidate and will fulfill it, because, he specified, one cannot return to the old Republican guard of yesteryear, alluding to Donald Trump's now only rival in the primaries to reach the votes of November.
"We cannot return to the old Republican guard of yesteryear, nor to the repackaged form of overheated corporatism that Nikki Haley represents," he stressed.
Haley, former US ambassador to the United Nations, is currently Donald Trump's only rival in these primaries for the Republican Party, and in recent statements she questioned former President Trump's mental competence, following comments he made in those who seemed to confuse her with Nancy Pelosi.
"When you reach a certain age there is a decline, that's a fact, ask any doctor," said the Republican contender.
DeSantis did not hesitate to bring the issue of border security and illegal immigration to the table, remembering why he ran for president.
?We launch this campaign so that the responsibility of the government recovers sovereignty, on our border and returns sanity to our society. "We cannot succeed as a country if we allow our nation to be invaded, our currency to be debased, our cities to crumble and our children to be indoctrinated," he said.
Finally, DeSantis thanked all his supporters for their support in his short campaign, as well as his family.
