This year, primaries will be held in 15 states and one territory: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and American Samoa.
Many people are used to the primaries being held in June, but this time it was in March, so it may seem confusing for people, and could even cause a low number of voters, this is what Connie Guerrero said. in a talk with Manuel Ortiz during the Península 360 Radio program in collaboration with Marcos Gutiérrez from «Hecho en California".
Connie Guerrero is president of the Women's Voting League of San Mateo Since 2021, her work has been to promote the participation of this sector, as well as youth, in voting, as she affirms that it is necessary to fight for the rights of women, our daughters and granddaughters; that's why Their work is very important, since each time we see a lower number of participants in the elections.
Connie believes that many people do not vote because they think that their vote is not important, since there are only two real candidates, the Republican Donald Trump and the Democrat Joseph Biden, so voting differently would not make a difference.
?Every vote counts, we have seen many times that campaigns are defined by very few votes, for example, in Redwood City, formerly Two candidates ran and they won with a difference of 15 votes, so every vote counts in the elections.?, added Connie Guerrero.
The defender of the vote considered that it is important to encourage participation in the elections on March 5, and it must be a joint effort. And, he said, a key piece is the financing that is allocated to the different organizations that have the opportunity to get closer to the communities, but to do so, more resources should be obtained.
Guerrero invited society in general to come to their counties and seek to be part of the programs and spaces at the service of the community, since in this way ties are created between the communities and their needs.

Finally, I invite all those who have the power to vote to be part of these elections, ?If you don't participate, you let the decisions be made for you.?, adding that in San Mateo County participation is low, since only approximately 40 percent of all those registered vote.
