"Are we worried about the return of fascism in the United States?" Ali Bantu, human rights lawyer in Colombia

"Are we worried about the return of fascism in the United States?" Ali Bantu, human rights lawyer in Colombia
"We are concerned about the return of fascism in the United States and what it means for the advancement of democracy in Latin America and the world with the possible return of Donald Trump," said Ali Bantú, director of the Racial Justice collective, jurist and anti-racist defender of human rights in Colombia, in a video shared on social media.

In light of the upcoming presidential elections in the United States, which will take place on November 5, human rights defenders have expressed their concern about the return of former President Donald Trump, who is running against Kamala Harris in 2024.

"We are concerned about the return of fascism in the United States and what it means for the advancement of democracy in Latin America and the world with the possible return of Donald Trump," he said in a video shared on social networks Ali Bantú, director of the Racial Justice collective, jurist and anti-racist defender of human rights in Colombia.

This is because Trump's campaign to return to the presidency has been full of hate speech and racism towards minorities in the United States, the same formula he used in 2016.

In this sense, Bantú points out that "from our perspective, Trump represents a return to the past: wars, conflicts, repression, racism, sexism" and calls for the fight for freedom and more justice to continue, regardless of who wins.

Finally, Ali Bantu concludes his video by saying "The candidates are not the same and we do not want fascism and we do not want to go back to the past with Trump."
