The County of San Mateo launched the "Reimagine Flood Park" call for residents to contribute their proposals to improve this space.
An analysis conducted in 2015 of this space located in Menlo Park revealed the need to improve and replace part of the infrastructure of this space located near North Fair Oak, where for 86 years, the San Mateo County community has been able to live together and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
Now, in 2022, the time has come to launch this project, now called "Realize Flood Park".
On Saturday, March 12, Casa CÃrculo Cultural held a consultation at its facilities in which the county parks department participated.
During this event, Casa CÃrculo Cultural screened a video entitled "A day at the Park Activities" showing some of the activities carried out by the children of Casa CÃrculo during a visit to Flood Park.
In addition, the park's 2020 Landscape Plan was reviewed with the community, and opinions about the community's needs for the park were gathered through information stations and a survey.
What improvements does the "Realize Flood Park" project include??
Some of the improvements that have been contemplated in this project are:
- Imaginative and adventurous play spaces that are accessible to people of all abilities.
- A refurbished baseball field and two new multipurpose sports fields
- New meeting spaces and picnic areas
- Trails and demonstration gardens
- Use of the preserved adobe building in the center of the park for community purposes.
- Preserving heritage trees and planting seeds for a more resilient and biodiverse landscape.
How to participate in the "Realize Flood Park" project?
Although the improvements in this space are necessary and evident, there are members of the community who oppose their implementation, which is why everyone's participation is necessary.
For this reason, the San Mateo County Parks Department has made available to all residents a survey (in English and Spanish) in which you can not only support the project, but also contribute new ideas and share your comments and concerns about improving Flood Park.
To participate you only have to enter to:
