San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus has issued a important announcement saying: "No one will intimidate me into making personnel changes. This vote is nothing more than a political maneuver led by a few insiders who seek to divide this Office," in the face of a possible political campaign to discredit it with false information.

And a political campaign of discredit has been started against Corpus, where false information against her circulated through social networks saying that the county is out of control and she could not handle the package, which is why she should leave her current position, she commented. Manuel Ortiz during the radio program Peninsula 360 Press and Hecho en California with Marcos Gutiérrez.

Corpus, he recalled, is the first Latina woman in this position, has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership.

Throughout her career she has worked in the Corrections Division, Professional Standards and Operations Division, as well as developing the first Women in Law Enforcement Symposium and Boot Camp to increase workforce diversity to mentor and train women seeking a career in law enforcement.

Sheriff Corpus has worked hand in hand with her community, supporting and seeking the well-being of residents, work that many citizens recognize, said Ortiz.

Currently, there is some pressure from some political elements that do not agree with her work, however behind this problem there is a lack of respect for her abilities, believing that because she is a woman she cannot make certain changes, she stressed.

Manuel Ortiz commented that when reviewing the comments generated by the statement, some can be seen attacking her, saying that Redwood City is taken over by organized crime, however that is not true.

In addition, she stressed that Redwood City does not belong to Sheriff Christina Corpus, so these comments are just part of baseless attacks.

For North Fair Oaks residents, there is appreciation for certain changes Christina Corpus has made because she has worked with the community and generated prior outreach.

"Community activities have been strengthened and expanded, and that is something that the community appreciates," said Manuel Ortiz.

Finally, he stressed that it seems that a political smear campaign is being created, which Corpus called a blow against his chief of staff, since he is making changes that do not please the previous team and this has generated attacks on him and his work team.
