At least 39 foreign migrants died this Monday after a fire that started shortly before 10:00 p.m. in the accommodation area of the Provisional Stay in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.

Given this, the National Institute of Migration ?INM? of the Ministry of the Interior of Mexico, specified that 68 men of legal age from Central and South America were staying at the immigration headquarters.

Of these, 29 more foreign migrants were injured by the incident and were transferred in a "delicate-serious" state to four local hospitals for immediate care.

Given this, the authorities reported that they have established communication and coordination with consular authorities from different countries to implement actions that allow the full identification of deceased migrants.

In this sense, the INM expressed its willingness to assist in legal investigations, in order to clarify the unfortunate facts.

After regretting the death of these people, the INM also reported that a complaint was filed with the corresponding authorities so that what happened could be investigated and, where appropriate, proceed accordingly.

This immigration authority specified that it will promptly monitor the evolution of the health status of those who are hospitalized and will provide full support to the families of the victims.

"The National Institute of Migration strongly rejects the acts that led to this tragedy," INM said.

In the same way, the Mexican immigration authority, said that it gave a visit to the National Commission of Human Rights ?CNDH? to intervene in legal and safeguard procedures for foreigners.

For his part, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said this Tuesday in his “morning” conference that the fire that killed the 39 people was caused by migrants who were protesting not to be deported.

“This had to do with a protest that they started, from, we suppose, that they found out that they were going to be deported, mobilized, and as a protest at the door of the shelter they put up mats and set them on fire, and they did not imagine that this I was going to cause this terrible misfortune," López Obrador pointed out.

From the National Palace, the Mexican president explained that what is known so far is that most of the deceased migrants are from Central America and some from Venezuela.

"We still do not know the names and nationality of those who lost their lives, it is very sad that this is happening," he added.
