The California Department of Food and Agriculture urges consumers to throw away some of the raw goat milk produced by Valley Milk Simply Bottled.
The goat's milk is being recalled following detection of Campylobacter jejuni bacteria in packaged whole raw goat's milk from the Modesto-based farm.
The recall is for goat milk labeled "Valley Milk Simply Bottled Raw Goat Milk" or "DESI MILK Raw Goat Milk" distributed in half-gallon plastic containers with a date of October 21-31, 2022.
The current recall order does not apply to raw cow's milk from the Modesto-based farm, according to a statement from the department.
No disease has been reported. The bacteria was found during routine tests.
According to the department, campylobacteriosis generally causes mild symptoms, but can cause worse reactions in people with compromised immune systems.
