Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, the necessary equipment and resources to alleviate the effects of the emergency.
“Category B” emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, under the Public Assistance program will be provided with 75 percent federal funding.
President Biden's statement came after Governor Gavin Newsom requested a Presidential Emergency Declaration on Thursday to authorize federal assistance to support state and local responses to severe storms affecting much of the state.
Notably, with the storms forecast to continue through mid-March, the Governor on Wednesday declared a state of emergency in 21 counties to support disaster relief and response efforts, following a state of emergency he declared in 13 counties. initials earlier this month.
